Hello, again. It’s been a while. I have a lot of things to write about, and hopefully I’ll get around to some of it.

This is just a bragging post. I have almost made it to 250 unique breweries! As of 3/19/2022, I am at 246, though I’ve likely missed one or two on the list. Since the laws changed in 2015, it’s been a ton of fun – err, well, about 20 lbs of extra fun, give or take which year we’re talking about 😁

It’s not just about the beer, though. Here are three of my favorite things about breweries.

  1. Breweries make great day trips – on vacation, on a weekend, at the airport, new place, old place, whatever. I recently went to Spacecats after going to see the Norwalk Havoc robot championship. I can’t just go full nerd – the brewery left me feeling beer chic, at least… if that’s a thing.
  2. Dog stalking! I love bringing my dogs Milka and Connor, but I am the one you’ll see lying on the floor to get a dog to come hang out with me. I want to try and get the Connecticut state law updated, to make sure that both dog owners and breweries can live in harmony together without worrying about skirting laws. I have to give a shout-out to a private FB group called New England Brew Dogs. They keep a spreadsheet of dog-friendly New England breweries.

  3. Beer people are usually awesome. I recently met a guy from Queens at Drydock North in Denver. As we were talking about his beer blog, Brew York (what a coincidence!), the bartender walked up and said “oh, I moved here from Queens last year!” Then they both told me the breweries to hit in Queens, because I’m planning a trip there with my husband and dad this summer. Then there were the guys who told us about the German Milka chocolate bar. I had no idea – I thought I made up Milka. The whole thing was really funny.

So, 4 more breweries to go. Number 250 will likely be in Maryland/DC next week, for cherry blossoms and brews weekend! Who will it be? 🍺🍒💕
